Akatsuki Games’ latest project, Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, stormed into the spotlight during Anime Expo 2025 with an electrifying first public demo that had fans lining up throughout the weekend. Based on Naoya Matsumoto’s hit manga and anime, this fast-paced turn-based RPG plunged players into the boots of Japan’s Defence Force as they fought off massive Kaiju from another dimension—drawing huge attention in the Entertainment Hall from July 3 to 6.

Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME wasn’t just playable—it was a full-scale experience. One of the most talked-about attractions was the JDF Photo ID Station, where fans posed for custom portraits and walked away with realistic Defence Force–style identification cards. As players waited to suit up, massive crowds gathered around a towering LED screen, which broadcast cinematic trailers and dramatic gameplay footage from the newest build.

Players took control of Defence Force members to repel waves of towering monsters erupting from mysterious Kaiju Dimensional Gates. Each battle emphasised strategic positioning and explosive “Ultimate Moves”, with dynamic animations that brought the kaiju battles to life. The action, the effects, and the crowd’s excitement gave the booth the energy of a battlefield.
