Black Clover Anime Sequel Officially in Production After 5-Year Hiatus

After years of silence and speculation, the magical doors of the Clover Kingdom are finally opening once again. Weekly Shōnen Jump has officially confirmed that a new Black Clover anime sequel is currently in production. The news arrives four years after the original anime concluded in March 2021 with 170 episodes—leaving fans eager for Asta’s journey to continue.

The announcement comes just days ahead of the highly anticipated promotional video, which is scheduled to drop on July 7, 2025. Alongside this reveal, a brand-new visual of Asta in his Devil Union form has been unveiled, signalling a more mature tone and potentially higher production values in the sequel. With updated character art and early visual teases, the Black Bulls are gearing up to return in a continuation that promises to dive deeper into the Spade Kingdom conflict and beyond.

This sequel project is part of the franchise’s broader comeback campaign, timed alongside the 10th anniversary of Yūki Tabata’s manga and the upcoming release of new manga chapters in Jump GIGA. After the success of the Sword of the Wizard King film and the manga’s continued popularity, this production marks a new era for the series—and long-time fans couldn't be more ready

What’s next?

  • Trailer/PV release: Expect the full teaser packed with animation and motion visuals on July 7, as previewed in the magazine.

  • Anime debut timeline: Production is underway, and the anime is projected to return in late 2026, giving Pierrot enough time for quality animation.
