Black Clover, created by Yūki Tabata, first began serialisation in Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2015. Over the course of nearly nine years, it became one of the magazine's flagship fantasy titles. In December 2023, the manga officially transitioned to Jump GIGA, where its final arc is now being published. To date, 36 volumes of the manga have been released in Japan.
The anime adaptation, also helmed by Studio Pierrot and directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara, originally aired from October 2017 to March 2021, running for a total of 170 episodes. The story concluded just as the Spade Kingdom arc reached its climax, pausing before major battles that fans have long anticipated seeing animated.
In March 2023, the franchise expanded with the release of Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, an original anime film featuring a new story supervised by Tabata himself. The film introduced former Wizard Kings and tested Asta and the Black Bulls in a high-stakes confrontation that thrilled long-time fans.
While full casting details are still under wraps, the original voice cast from both the anime series and the 2023 film are expected to reprise their roles. Gakuto Kajiwara will return as Asta, alongside Nobunaga Shimazaki as Yuno, Kana Yūki as Noelle, and Junichi Suwabe as Captain Yami. English voice actors, including Dallas Reid and Micah Solusod, are also expected to return in the dubbed version when it becomes available on Crunchyroll.
New character reveals are also expected soon, especially with the Paladins and Lucius Zogratis playing a central role in the coming episodes.
