Love Is War Returns with New TV Special Anime

A brand-new TV special anime for Kaguya-sama: Love Is War has officially been announced. The news was revealed on June 23 via the series’ official channels and a feature on Comic Natalie, exciting fans with a return to the elite halls of Shuchiin Academy.

The special, titled Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai – 5-nin no Kaguya-sama, will consist of five original short episodes showcasing different versions of Kaguya Shinomiya in various alternate settings. A new visual featuring five distinct “Kaguyas” was also released alongside the announcement.

The project is being produced by A-1 Pictures, with returning staff members from the hit TV series and movie.

Key Visual:

The new TV special adapts a bonus manga project originally published to celebrate the series’ anniversary. Each short segment will feature a different take on Kaguya’s personality—from a delinquent Kaguya to a magical girl, a maid, and more.

The special aims to explore “what if” scenarios that take the beloved characters into totally new settings—all while keeping the sharp wit and signature psychological comedy the series is known for.

The five-episode special is slated to air sometime in 2024 (exact broadcast date TBA). It will be released on Japanese television and will likely be made available via international streaming services afterward. An advanced screening event is also in the works.
