The Beginning After the End anime – backlash and petition controversy
Key visual for The Beginning After the End Season 1 (2025), the anime that sparked significant fan backlash and a cancellation petition. The A-CAT production premiered in April 2025 to mixed reviews. Following the debut, over 50,000 fans launched an online petition calling for the anime to be cancelled and reworked. Critics on social media noted animation issues and inconsistent tone, fueling the controversy. Despite the uproar, studio and staff have not cancelled the project; instead they issued statements defending the adaptation and promising improvements.
The Shiunji Family Children – English dub cast and announcement
Official key visual for The Shiunji Family Children (2025), a Doga Kobo rom-com anime about five siblings with a secret crush among them. The series premiered on April 8, 2025, and a Crunchyroll English dub was announced to begin streaming on April 29. The dub cast includes VA’s Abi Kumar as Arata, Taylor Murphy as Banri, and Amber May as Seiha, among others
. This follows the announcement of all five sibling characters’ visuals in late 2024. Crunchyroll confirmed the dub release via social media, highlighting the voice cast and encouraging fans to tune in as the love triangle comedy unfolds.
Mukuware Nakatta Murabito A – teaser visual and staff announcement
Teaser visual for Mukuware Nakatta Murabito A (2025), featuring protagonist Mateo at the noble’s castle. The anime’s first teaser and staff lineup were revealed on April 25, 2025. It confirmed Masahiko Komino as director and Tsutomu Kaneko as series composer, with character designs by Junko Yamanaka. The image was released alongside news that the series (based on Nazuna Miki’s novel) will have an official X (Twitter) and website. The novel’s publisher Shueisha also provided background on the story, highlighting Mateo’s hidden legendary power after being adopted by a noble. No release date was given beyond “coming soon.”
Scarlet (Mamoru Hosoda’s new film) – teaser visual and trailer
Super teaser visual for Mamoru Hosoda’s upcoming film Scarlet (2025), showing the titular princess in a tense skyward pose. Announced for a late-2025 release (winter 2025), Scarlet introduces a “strong princess who transcends time and space” as its heroine.
