Radiant honestly had a really huge impact on me. I felt this anime was meant to enlighten people about the seriousness and severity of racism. Beyond the moral lessons, the story also had a solid and engaging plot.
At first, I was really annoyed with how gullible and hot-headed the main character was, but after a certain point, we begin to see major character development—not just from Seth (the MC), but also from the supporting cast. The anime does a great job of giving its side characters enough screen time and depth so viewers can genuinely connect with them, instead of focusing solely on Seth.
One thing I noticed was that the world design felt strikingly similar to Fairy Tail, and the character design had a familiar vibe as well. After doing some digging, I discovered the connection: Hiro Mashima (the author of Fairy Tail) is actually a supporter of Radiant and has openly expressed his appreciation for the series. That made a lot of sense.
The way the story was told also reminded me of One Piece in terms of pacing and adventurous tone, while the Nemesis designs felt reminiscent of Hollows from Bleach. These influences, however, gave Radiant a unique blend of familiarity and originality that I really enjoyed.
In summary, Radiant is a beautiful anime with both heart and depth, definitely worth watching. I’m still holding out hope for a third season, because what a truly elegant and underrated gem this series turned out to be.
