Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

 Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress

Well, to start, I didn’t think much of this anime at first. I had heard about it from people once in a while, but I just didn’t feel it would be worth it—until I ran out of good anime to watch. So, I decided to give it a try.

Ahh, I still remember the feeling of watching it like it was yesterday. The moment the first episode began, I was already hooked in. Like—I’m not just hyping it—I was actually hooked. Everything about the Kabane and how you transform into one once they bite you was lowkey like a zombie apocalypse. Everything that followed just got me excited. It’s too much to explain.

But although there were many upsides, there were still some downsides. For example, I loved the main character’s resilience—his will not to be a coward. That was honestly very beautiful. But I also hated his ignorance. And it wasn’t only him—most of the other characters displayed high levels of stupidity. Nevertheless, I guess it was all for the plot.

The world background? Well, it’s nothing much, honestly—it’s just trains and different stations, so nothing that interesting. There was a bit of good character development, like with Takumi. Although it wasn’t much, we could see he actually felt guilt for not supporting his friend at first, but he worked toward becoming a better friend. I think that was the major change, but not much else. The story was too focused on Ikoma and Mumei.
